Pitcairn Island is one of the most remote inhabited islands in the world, currently with a population of around fifty.
Situated about half-way between New Zealand and South America, Pitcairn is a tiny speck in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, rising to a maximum height of around 345 metres. It measures barely one mile wide by about two miles long!
